Maramoo Marathon 2017!
Maramoo is a Marathon with 3 legs held in the beautiful Southwest region on the 9th of September. You can either participate as a solo, in a team, compete in the half marathon or take the 10km challenge!
A small section of the marathon is on the road however majority of the run is on bush tracks, giving you the opportunity to admire the beautiful green scenery along the way.
After each leg, you’ll run a lap of honour around the cricket pitch where the spectators will be to cheer you on and a DJ will be playing music to get you ready for your next laps. Be sure to bring your family and friends as well.
So, what’s special about Maramoo? Aside from the unique Margaret River region scenery, you have an option of tasting local produce when you do your lap of honour and along the way! This includes different wines and samples from an array of food stands. You’ll also be able to smell the delicious all-day food cooking from Rivendell, which you can indulge in after the race.
Maramoo is inspired by a French event called Marathon du medoc, a 26-mile Marathon where fancy dress is compulsory and runners are expected to consume up to 23 glasses of fine French wine throughout the run!
There are many prizes up for grabs; place getters, best dressed and some just given out to random participants!
Don’t forget about fundraising. The chosen beneficiaries of Maramoo 2017 are Royal Flying Doctor Service and The Smith Family. There will be prizes for the most successful fundraiser.
