We love our food, and we also love dining out with our children, teaching them restaurant etiquette and encouraging them to taste new dishes. We’ve shortlisted some of the best dining spots that happen to be cater for the whole family. Here’s 13 of our favourites…
BUSSELTON
1.Esplanade Hotel Busselton
The historic Esplanade Hotel is nestled a stone’s throw from the azure waters of Geographe Bay in Busselton and makes the perfect spot for a laidback feed with the family. Built in 1898, you can imagine this beautiful old pub heaving with sailors – Busselton Jetty is opposite. Boasting a delicious menu catered for little (and big tummies!), they’ve even got a fenced playground to keep the kids entertained.
2. Burger Bones
A casual joint in the heart of Busselton, Burger Bones lures crowds (near and far) for its haute-burgers, juicy patties and house-made condiments. With its old-school service, and championing flavours, what more could you ask for?
3. Shelter Brewing Co
Soak up good brews and quality views at Shelter Brewing Co in Busselton. The architect-designed brewery is warm and welcoming making it ideal for families. Order some of their share plates, indulge in their delightful beers and enjoy the views overlooking iconic Busselton Jetty. They even have a small fenced-in playground, with a larger public playground just a minute away.
4. Tonic By the Bay Café
Just down the road from Mandalay and opposite the beach you’ll find Tonic By the Bay Café. With some high-quality eating and drinking on offer, you can pop by for an afternoon spritz or a couple pizzas and soak up the family-friendly vibes.
5. Thai Lemongrass
Fancy a tasty takeaway, or a casual yet delicious dine-in Thai meal? Thai Lemongrass curries are packed with veggies and taste a little lighter than you might expect. Our standing order? Pad see ew (noodles), beef massaman and a red curry are absolutely delicious!
DUNSBOROUGH-YALLINGUP
6. Swings & Roundabouts
Known for their delicious food, wine and views, Yallingup icon Swings & Roundabouts is the perfect spot for the whole family. They have expanded through the restaurant and opened a new cellar door tasting space this month, so arrive early to enjoy it. Tuck into some lovely woodfired chicken, prosciutto, stracciatella and pizza, then let the kids burn off some energy on the timber playground, whilst you indulge in exceptional wine poured by a great cellar crew. It’s a win-win!
7. Southcamp
Southcamp Brewhouse and Beer Garden recently opened its doors in the heart of Dunsborough – and it’s already humming with local families most nights of the week. Bordered by the brewhouse and Dunn Bay Continental deli on three sides, there’s a c-shaped wooden deck around peppermint trees, lawn and a sandpit for the kids. Their relaxed menu and beers courtesy of Albany’s Wilson Brewing Company has summer written all over it.
8. Pedros Mexican
Nestled in the heart of Dunsborough, Pedros Mexican pleases even the fussiest eaters, with tasty Tex-Mex tacos, quesadillas, loaded nachos and sizzling fajitas. There’s even a ‘healthy’ stuffed zucchini option – perfect with a frozen margarita. Casual, fun & family-friendly – grab a sombrero as you arrive and let the legends look after you!
9. Meelup Farmhouse
Meelup Farmhouse deserves a spot on your IG grid – for the aesthetic and the sublime food and drinks. Enjoy brunch or lunch under their lantern-lined veranda with dreamy views into the surrounding bushland. After eating, you’ll want to stay and walk around the beautiful grounds. The kids will love meeting the resident chickens, cows, goats, alpacas and the friendly farm dog!
MARGARET RIVER-AUGUSTA
10. Pizzica
Located on the main street of Margs you’ll find Pizzica, a little slice of Italy right here in the south west. It’s a great spot for a birthday celebration, and our kids love it. Come hungry with the kids and peruse the extensive menu that’ll transport you straight to the cobbled-stoned streets of Naples. Our pick? Puccia Porchetta is pizza-meets-sandwich, stuffed with fresh tomato, caramelised onion and lashings of porchetta. Be sure to order the fried dough balls drizzled with Nutella for dessert. Molto bene!
11. Margaret River Bakery
The iconic Margaret River Bakery has been waking up the main street with the smell of fresh bread and coffee since the ‘60s. There’s a great sense of abundance and generosity with their fresh rolls, cakes and baked goods, and the display fridge always looks amazing. For a casual feed with the kids, grab lunch, a loaf and something sweet for later. Once you’ve secured the goods, stroll down to nearby Barrett St Weir and enjoy them picnic style.

Is there anything more delicious than a gourmet meat pie? Pair it with onion rings, gravy and a pint and you’ve got yourself a match made in heaven. Nestled amongst the karri trees on Boranup Forest, you’ll find Pies & Ale, a hidden gem filled with handmade British-style pies you’ll dream about for weeks.
