Relax and Rejuvenate on a Wellness Break

Relax & Rejuvenate on a Wellness Break

From sunrise run clubs and social ice baths, to breathwork sessions and saunas, the wellness movement has not only peppered its way through the big cities of Australia – here in Busselton and the Margaret River region we are welcoming many guests wanting a holiday filled with some much-needed rest and relaxation.

However, as much as we love the idea of half-day spa journeys, when you’re travelling with youngsters, fitting in some much-needed down time can be tricky! This is why we’ve rounded up some of the best family-friendly ways to refill your cup that’ll leave the entire crew feeling rejuvenated.

  1. Beach time

It wouldn’t be a south-west summer without a trip to the beach. Fortunately, you don’t need to pack the car and hope for a park, as directly opposite Mandalay is Geographe Bay – it’s a short stroll across our lawn and the road. There’s nothing so lovely as walking, swimming, fishing or relaxing with a good book along the calm, sandy shores. The gentle, and temperate waters make it the perfect spot for beginner snorkellers too.

  1. SUP

There’s no better way to make the most of a beautiful day than cruising through crystal clear water in the sunshine on a stand-up paddle board. It’s plenty of laughs for the whole family, especially if you’re finding your balance and fall in a few times. The calm waters of Geographe Bay make for the perfect SUP launching pad too – check out Sup Life for lessons or equipment hire.

  1. Dining out

Blue Manna Bistro

It wouldn’t be a proper holiday without enjoying a few delicious meals prepared for you! There’s a wealth of eateries in Busselton dishing up some of the best food in the region. Some of our family-friendly favourites are Shelter Brewing Co, Tonic by the Bay café and The Goose for their proximity to playgrounds and/or relaxing ocean views.

If you don’t feel like heading out – we’ve got you covered right in the park. Our new Mandalay kiosk serves up delicious coffee, breakfasts and dinners to help make your holiday that little bit easier – especially if you’ve got a few hungry kids in tow.

  1. Relaxing by the pool

At Mandalay, we not only have one pool, but three for you to choose from! Our most popular outdoor pool comes with a large, rainbow coloured slide that’s the perfect spot for the kids to splash, slide, and have hours of fun while you sit back and soak up the sunshine. There’s also an indoor heated and an outdoor pool too, all circled by sun lounges beckoning you to put your feet up.

  1. Mandalay poolside massage

Picture this: the kids are splashing around in the Mandalay pool whilst you get to enjoy a poolside massage, without having leave them – sounds like a dream! Luckily for you, we’re offering poolside massages from 2pm-4pm, Monday to Friday during the school holidays. Please check Mandalay Happenings to see all upcoming activities.

  1. Yoga on Busselton Jetty

Yoga with panoramic views across Geographe Bay? Count us in! Spend an hour flowing with teacher Katie Garnett of KatieYoga at the end of Busselton Jetty. Suitable for all levels, choose between outdoors on the jetty, sunset classes or enjoy a class underwater in the Busselton Underwater Observatory. Selected summer dates are available, and bookings are essential. See KatieYoga.com.au for details.

  1. Wine tasting

No visit to the region would be complete without visiting at least a few of the fabulous wineries scattered from Busselton to Augusta. From cosy family run cellars to world renowned establishments – there’s something for all vino lovers to enjoy.

We recommend grabbing a bottle (or two!) once you’ve found your favourite drop and enjoying it sunset style with a picnic at the beach opposite Mandalay.

  1. Walking trails

Get out in nature on one of the many hiking trails or sandy beaches for a low cost, high impact wellness exercise that’ll cater for the entire family. One of our favourites is the Geographe coastal path that extends all the way from Mandalay into Busselton Town centre. It’s flat, easily accessible and offers sweeping views of the coastline.

  1. Kids activities at Mandalay

Adventures, friendships and life-long memories – that’s what we’re all about at Mandalay! Our Mandalay Happenings calendar has daily activities, from food trucks, family movies, laser tag and more, that’ll keep the whole crew entertained. There’s plenty happening regardless of whether you visit during or outside holiday time.
