Margaret River Open Studios
Margaret River Region Open Studios
Step inside the creative worlds of 153 artists
There’s something a little magical about stepping inside an artist’s world.
Each September, Margaret River Region Open Studios invites visitors to do just that, opening the doors to studios, homes, galleries and unexpected creative spaces across the region.
Returning from 12 to 27 September 2026, the 16-day celebration is a chance to meet the artists behind the work, hear their stories and experience the Margaret River Region through a creative lens. With 153 artists spread across Busselton, Dunsborough, Margaret River and beyond, there’s plenty to discover – whether you’re a lifelong art lover or simply curious about a new experience stepping into studios.
So, grab a coffee, map out a few creative stops and get ready to explore a different side of the Margaret River region. Here are a few of the Busselton artists we’re visiting first – plus a handful a little further afield.
Art, beer and stories by the bay
Perched on the Busselton foreshore, Shelter Brewing Co. is bringing together three very different creative worlds this Open Studios. Ceramic artist Georgia Zoric tells stories of coastal life through whimsical, hand-built ceramic characters, while Jaky Pinnock celebrates the colour, joy and beauty of coastal living through vibrant paintings and intricate glass mosaics. Meanwhile, Charlotte DeLatte gives discarded farm machinery a new lease on life, transforming weathered steel into expressive sculptures filled with warmth, whimsy and a touch of femininity.
Three artists, three unique styles and one pretty spectacular place to discover them. Pop into Shelter to explore their work, then settle in with a cold craft beer and a bite to eat while soaking up those beautiful Busselton foreshore views.

A new home for fine furniture
Making his Margaret River Region Open Studios debut this year, renowned fine furniture designer-maker Nathan Day is opening the doors to his brand new Vasse gallery.
With 25 years of experience, Nathan combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, creating exceptional pieces from rare and spectacular local timbers. His work has been commissioned by the likes of Louis Vuitton and Apple, with his designs now found in homes and projects across Australia and beyond.

A little magic at Tandem Espresso
Calling all lovers of charming illustrations! Kate Jones English is bringing her whimsical artwork to Tandem Espresso, the Busselton café she runs with her husband.
Inspired by Beatrix Potter, Brambly Hedge and Quentin Blake, Kate uses traditional nib ink and watercolour to create beautifully nostalgic illustrations. Grab a coffee, discover Kate’s work and let your inner child wander.
Flowers with a fabric twist
Melanie Jarman creates incredibly lifelike flowers using textiles, dry-needle felting and mixed media – transforming natural fibres into intricate sculptural artworks inspired by the flora of our Southwest.
Step inside Melanie’s beautiful gum-tree-fringed studio to see how she brings these delicate creations to life, and take a moment to enjoy the garden surroundings while you’re there. You can even grab a coffee, tea or homemade treat for a $10 donation, with all funds going towards Motor Neurone Disease WA.
Exploring further afield…
If you’re up for exploring a little further, Dunsborough is home to some wonderful creatives worth adding to your Open Studios itinerary.
Step into Ian Mutch’s whimsical world of playful landscapes, joyful characters and intricate details, where you can discover everything from original artworks and sketchbooks to prints and new concepts. For something a little more hands-on, Toni Salmon creates handmade functional ceramics, sculptures and statement jewellery from her home studio, celebrating texture, mark-making and the quiet joy of making by hand.

And don’t miss local youth artist Charlie Guiver, making his Open Studios debut with intricate animal sculptures crafted from scrap steel, old tools and reclaimed machinery.
For something a little quirky, make your way to Cowaramup, where the artists are just as colourful as the town itself. Chloe Wilder is opening the doors to her wonderfully eccentric studio, filled with paintings, sculptures, ceramics and plenty of surprises. Expect a cuppa, a few laughs and perhaps even a tasting of her husband’s wine – with Chloe’s art on the label!

Heading down to Margaret River? Make a day of it and discover two artists with very different ways of capturing the beauty of the Southwest. After more than 40 years working with hot glass, Gerry Reilly is preparing for his final hurrah before taking a well-earned break. Visit during his September 19–20 event to see his beautiful glasswork take shape and perhaps take home a piece while you can.
